Pica Pica products are made with sustainability in mind, using a combination of natural fibres, deadstock, reclaimed, repurposed and recycled materials. All items are handmade in Yorkshire in small batches.
Deadstock - leftover fabric from manufacturers that would otherwise end up in landfill or being burned.
Reclaimed - this can be vintage fabric or any unused, second-hand material which would otherwise go to waste.
Repurposed materials - items made for one purpose but are re-used without undergoing any chemical changes.
Recycled materials - materials that undergo a chemical change to produce a new product. For example; rPET thread which is made from recycled polyester.
Product transparency
The majority of Pica Pica items are made from natural fibres, such as cotton and linen.
Some deadstock/recycled/reclaimed fabric may be a cotton mix (containing synthetic fibres).
Lightweight fabrics are reinforced with a fusible interfacing to increase the longevity of the product.
Wherever possible, 100% cotton or rPET thread is used.
